The Million Mom March is a national, grassroots, chapter based movement of mothers and others from all over the country who have joined together to demand sensible gun laws that protect our children.

Kids Lives Are At Stake--  Every day
children die, and many more are seriously injured by guns.

They are victims of homicide, suicide, and unintentional shootings made easy by access to guns.

This is personal, not political. We are in this for one reason only: to keep our kids safe!
Each day that there is no action on this issue, we lose 10 more children.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!

MMM Texas worked with Texans Against Gun Violence, Texans for Gun Safety, TX
Council on Family Violence and SafeRange in obtaining 2 great victories this
 Session in the Texas Legislature!

Victory One:  SB 199 by West has been signed by Gov. Perry.  As of Sept. 1,  it will be illegal in Texas for those under final protective order for family  violence and those convicted of family violence crimes to possess guns.

Victory Two:  The pet gun lobby bill of this Session, SB 819 by Armbrister,  was defeated!  This was a BIG victory for us.
SB 819 would have  allowed concealed handguns on ALL city and county
property, stripping the  right of  local gov't to ban guns.  This would have meant loaded  handguns in  city halls, county courthouses, pools, clinics, libraries.  As our colleague  Travis County Constable Bruce Elfant said, "Texas is better off for the
defeat of this bill."

SB 819 sailed through the Senate  but was never set for House vote by the
House Calendars Committtee.  This stalling was done by Reps. Danburg, Dutton,
McCall, Sadler, Solis, and S. Turner, and we owe them a HUGE thanks.

Then this bill was attached to a House bill in the Senate by Staples.  This  bad bill passed the Senate TWICE.  We have a long way to go in the Texas Senate.  The amendment was stripped from the House bill in conference  committee.
